1. The thermal layer
List the insulation material, product form, thickness, dimensions, density where specified, facing and quantity. Include the project service conditions and required product documents.
2. The protective jacket
Include coils or sheets, preformed pipe jackets, elbows, tees, reducers, valve boxes, end caps, collars and tank panels. Coordinate all finished sizes with the insulation schedule.
3. Fastenings and supports
Check banding, buckles, clips, springs, rivets, screws, pins, washers, mesh and support rings. Match metals and fixings to the approved assembly.
4. Sealing and jointing
Review sealants, tapes, vapour-barrier mastics, reinforcing fabric, adhesives and weathering membranes. Compatibility, coverage and application details should come from the selected manufacturer.
5. Tools and delivery
Plan cutters, snips, tensioners and riveting tools. Split the material take-off by work front and confirm delivery constraints, storage requirements and any contingency quantities with the project team.
This is a procurement checklist. Final material selection and system design should follow your engineer's specification and the selected manufacturer's current technical data.
