Rockwool buying questions, UAE
What is the difference between rockwool, mineral wool and stone wool?
They are the same family: insulation spun from molten basalt rock and slag. 'Rockwool' is also a manufacturer's brand name. In UAE specifications the terms are used interchangeably; what matters is the product form, density, thickness, facing and the fire and thermal performance the specification calls for.
Which rockwool density should I specify?
Pipe sections are typically 100 to 140 kg/m³, slabs for ducts and equipment 60 to 100 kg/m³, blankets and wired mats 80 to 130 kg/m³, and building slabs 40 to 60 kg/m³. Follow your approved specification; CladdingMart quotes the stated density and provides the manufacturer data sheet.
Is rockwool suitable for hot and cold service?
Rockwool suits hot service up to around 650 °C depending on product. For chilled water and refrigeration it needs a vapour barrier and sealed cladding; many cold-service projects specify rubber foam or PIR instead. See the hot and cold insulation guide.
Do you supply the cladding and fixings with the insulation?
Yes. Aluminium or stainless steel jacketing, PSMR-backed coil, banding, buckles, insulation pins, speed washers, wire mesh and sealants are supplied in the same quotation.
