Choosing the right tape

Which insulation tape do I need for duct insulation?
For foil-faced glass wool or rockwool duct wrap use a matching aluminium foil tape (plain foil for plain facings, FSK tape for FSK-faced products) so the joint has the same vapour-barrier performance as the facing. Use 50 mm or 75 mm width to cover the overlap.
Is aluminium foil tape the same as electrical insulation tape?
No. Aluminium foil tape seals the vapour barrier on thermal insulation; electrical insulation tape is PVC tape for cable joints. CladdingMart supplies thermal insulation tapes and facings, not electrical tape.
What is FSK tape?
FSK stands for foil-scrim-kraft: aluminium foil reinforced with a fibreglass scrim and kraft paper backing. FSK tape matches FSK-faced insulation and is stronger and more tear-resistant than plain foil tape.
Which tape works on rubber foam insulation?
Closed-cell rubber foam (elastomeric) insulation is normally joined with the manufacturer's contact adhesive and finished with a matching black foam tape or UV-resistant cladding. Specify the product and CladdingMart will quote the compatible tape and adhesive.
Can you supply tape with the insulation and cladding?
Yes. Tapes, facings, adhesives, mastics, banding and aluminium cladding are quoted in the same enquiry as the glass wool, rockwool or rubber foam insulation.
