INDUSTRIAL CLADDING PROCUREMENT

Industrial jacketing standards: what to specify

Use the project specification to identify the applicable material standard, edition and documentation. These references describe industrial insulation jacketing and sheet material; they are not a declaration that a catalogue item is certified or in stock.

Which reference covers which material?

ReferenceWhat it addressesWhat to confirm in the enquiry
ASTM C1729 / C1729MAluminium jacketing for insulation.Applicable edition and unit system, alloy/temper, thickness, surface treatment, moisture-retarder classification and supporting product documentation.
ASTM B209/B209MAluminium and aluminium-alloy sheet and plate, including coiled sheet within its scope.Alloy, temper, dimensions, finish, tolerances and required mill documentation. A general sheet reference alone does not establish the complete jacketing specification.
ASTM C1767 / C1767MStainless steel jacketing for insulation.Required grade, thickness, finish, moisture-retarder requirements, edition/unit system and documentation for the quoted material.
ASTM C1879Installation practice for aluminium and stainless steel jacketing over pipe and rigid-tubing insulation within its stated scope.Whether the installation is in scope. Do not apply it as a blanket instruction for rectangular ducts, valves or every insulation system.

A material standard is not an installed-system approval

Confirm the approved design and manufacturer instructions as well as the material documents. A standard reference does not choose the right thickness, alloy, insulation or fastening arrangement for every project. Use the edition required by the contract and obtain clarification where different unit systems or references are specified.

Send these details for an industrial cladding quotation

  1. Application, project drawing and approved material specification.
  2. Material, alloy or stainless grade, temper where relevant, thickness, width, sheet length or coil format, finish and backing requirements.
  3. Standard and edition, required certificates or mill reports, approved brands and traceability requirements.
  4. Quantity, delivery location and requested date.

Availability, compliance evidence, lead time and delivery terms are confirmed for the specific quoted material. No published reference substitutes for a manufacturer datasheet or mill certificate.
